Podcasting is invaluable to an agent's blog

With the advent of the so-called "Web 2.0," podcasting has become an increasingly efficient way to communicate with your potential buyers. But what is it?

Podcasting is simply a way to distribute digital media across the internet through the use of an RSS feed. Most of the time, this means audio, but video podcasting is becoming increasingly popular as well.

And why should you consider this? Quite simply, adding a podcast to your website or blog gets you into better touch with your clientele, and provides another measure of the "full-circle" effect you want your web presence to become.

How to get started? It's actually simple.

  1. Download some free audio-recording software such as Audacity (search in google). Mac users could utilize the built-in Garageband software.
  2. Record your first show. Include interviews with past buyers, tips for home buying, market updates, and etc. Basically anything that could be on your site could be in audio form!
  3. Save the file as an MP3 and utilize some FTP software such as Dreamweaver to integrate the podcast episode into your blog.
Next step? Encourage all visitors to have a listen. This is a great, personal way to connect with your clientele. It's an excellent PR piece and something you can really get great viewership from.

After you get a few going, list the podcast (think of a simple title such as Greg's Real Estate Market News) on iTunes, google, and yahoo! to up your viewership.
